Build Your Defence in Autumn Soula Poulakis- Naturopath

The transition to the cooler shorter days can be a challenge for some people. Here are a few tips to help you thrive during the Autumn season.

In Chinese medicine, autumn focuses on the lungs and large intestine. Overdoing it can lead to congestion and toxicity as well as constipation and clogging up of the sinuses and nose which can lead to upper respiratory infections as germs grow and inflame the membranes.

Top Remedies to boost your system:

  • A nebuliser:used with ASEA molecular water can help clear these germs away and keep your airways unblocked.
  • Vitamin D: Mostly from the sun, so our intake decreases when the weather is colder during autumn and winter as we tend to spend more time indoors. Make sure to increase your vitamin D to 5,000-10,000iu Per day. (Take in the morning as taking later in the day can interfere with melatonin production in the body which could lead to sleep disturbances.)
  • Vitamin D the sunshine vitamin as it can help elevate the mood, aid depression (especially if you suffer from SAD Syndrome) and boost immunity.
  • Other remedies that can help our immunity and well-being include Echinacea, Garlic, Onion, Ginger, Olive Leaf, Golden Seal, Astragalus, Oregano, Saffron, Vitamin C, Quercetin, Hydroxychloroquine, Zinc, Selenium, Iodine, Blackseed Oil,NAC, Glutathione, Therapeutic Mushrooms like Chaga, Maitake, Turkey Tail, Reishi and Lionsmane.
